Year-round experiences for your mini break

No matter when you book a mini break in Copenhagen, there are plenty of things to see and do.

Spring

Spring in Copenhagen is a time of life and colour as the city awakens from winter. One of the most iconic spring experiences is a visit to Tivoli Gardens, which opens for the season with blooming gardens and exciting rides.

After Tivoli, you can take a stroll down to Nyhavn, where the colourful houses, cosy cafés, and numerous boats create a perfect setting for a relaxed walk along the waterfront. Nearby, you’ll find the Round Tower, where you can climb to the top and enjoy stunning views of the city. You can also rent a bike from the hotel and cycle to Kastellet, one of the best-preserved fortresses in Northern Europe, where you can explore the historic ramparts and enjoy beautiful views over the water.

Summer

Summer in Copenhagen is lively and packed with activities. The city is abuzz with festivals, outdoor concerts, and various events. The famous shopping street, Strøget, is filled with street performers and charming cafés where you can take a break and enjoy a cool drink.

Summer is also the perfect time to visit the city’s many green spaces, like the King’s Garden and Fælledparken, where you can enjoy a picnic or join in on one of the many outdoor activities. Cycling around the city is a great way to see Copenhagen, with plenty of bike lanes and scenic routes along the water. Or why not rent a kayak and explore Copenhagen’s canals?

You can also head to Amager Beach Park for a swim and some relaxation by the water.

Autumn

Autumn in Copenhagen has a special charm with its beautiful golden colours and cosy atmosphere. The city is dressed in autumn shades, and it’s the perfect time to explore the city’s parks and gardens, such as Frederiksberg Gardens and the King’s Garden, where the trees are ablaze with red, yellow, and orange leaves.

A walk along the lakes or a bike ride through the cobblestone streets of the inner city can be magical when the autumn leaves are falling. Autumn is also a season filled with cultural events. Visit museums like the National Museum and Design Museum Denmark to enjoy the many indoor exhibitions.

And if you’re planning a mini break during week 42, there are plenty of activities in Copenhagen for the autumn school holidays.

Winter

Winter in Copenhagen is magical and filled with cosy experiences. The city transforms into a winter wonderland with Christmas markets, festive lights, and plenty of winter activities. One of the most popular attractions during the winter months is Tivoli, beautifully decorated for Christmas with lights, Christmas trees, and festive stalls. You can enjoy the rides, shop for Christmas gifts, and sip warm mulled wine with æbleskiver.

You can also take a stroll down Strøget, lit up with holiday lights, and filled with shops offering everything from Christmas gifts to winter fashion.

Copenhagen also has ice rinks where you can rent skates and glide across the ice. King’s New Square and Frederiksberg Runddel are two popular spots where locals and tourists alike enjoy this winter activity.
